Artistic Funk

I've been in a bit of a funk lately, artistically speaking. But I think I might have broken this log-jam. Today I ran across an 80s metal band Banshee and downloaded their old albums from Amazon.com. I also ran across some leftover stock of Art Spectrum Colourfix Coated Pastel Paper that I'd forgotten about. I bought in originally to use for pastels, but I think it will make a nice surface for my current work.

Looking For Inspiration

It's been one of those weeks when I have a hard time getting into my art. I can't seem to find any inspiration. I hate when this mood hits me. I just hope I can shake this mood soon.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil

I am really excited because tomorrow the documentary "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" is coming to Naro Cinema. The Documentary is showing all next week at 9:15, but I going to be there tomorrow night. It's good to see a band from back in the 80s are finally getting the attention they deserve.

Here is the first stage of a multimedia work in progress I started that came to me while listening to the song "Lies, Lies, Lies" by Ministry. Here I'm attaching cut paper using acrylic medium.



Next I used green, blue and black acrylic paints and then added more cut paper.



I've still got some more work to do on this one. I hope to complete it by tomorrow.

Rant - 100.5 Max FM now Hot 100.5

I'm going to go on a bit of a rant today as I'm dealing with some unpleasant realities at the moment. First, Local's Lounge, the only real radio outlet for local bands was canceled from Max FM. Then Max FM changed formats – twice. First to Kung Pao 100.5 – all Chinese music and then to Hot 100.5 – R&B/Pop/Hip-Hop.

Now, I don't know if Hot 100.5 is going to be the final format or not, but even if they go back to a rock format, I don't know if I will listen in. The fact that the people running Max FM trust some numbers-cruncher rather than their own listeners bothers me a lot.

They don't care what the listeners want. They are too busy working the angles in hopes of getting better ratings to care what we listeners want. They fail to understand that you don't get more listeners through stunts or marketing ploys, but by building a relationship with your listeners. You become part of their lives.

Once that relationship is broken it can't easily be fixed, even if Max FM decides to rock again.
